TWO UPCOMING SPECIAL EVENTS

The first is operations around POW-MIA Day.  The week of Sunday, 15 September - Sunday, 22 September please join the effort to honor POWs and MIAs through operations on any mode and/or band for as many hours as possible.  The call for this event is K4MIA/7.  Mike Bald is K4MIA and has asked me and other hams in various parts of the country to use this appropriate call to raise awareness.  This will be something like the 14th year of the event.  Use the call and log the contacts with RS(T)s and name (optional).  Send the logs to me in ADIF format and I will put them with my log - then send them to Mike at the end. 

The second operation is for National Fire Prevention Week starting Sunday, October 6 at 0001Z and ending Saturday, October 12 at 2359Z.  The call is N7F.  I need a co-chair for the 7th call district.  in 2023, I was the ONLY N7F and made 900 QSOs myself over the days with about 3-4 hours per day - virtually all SSB.  I also need operators who will commit to make at least 200 QSOs in the week.  The main station, N2F (WX2S) sends out each year a list of around 36 fire safety tips.  Steve asks us to give a tip at the end of each SSB QSO. However, I have found that in a pile-up (and you will have pile-ups) if you do this, you will lose the pile-up.  My method is to wait until about 20-30 stations of the pile-up are logged and then take the next S9 or higher station after in the log and ask for a number between the number of tips sent out.  Take there number and share that numbered tip - then go on with the pile-up.  If you have 7 call district friends who may want to participate, invite them to operate as well.  Send all logs to me in ADIF format at the end and I will merge them for Steve (he is the QSL manager).  Again, this is SSB, CW and/or Digital - one mode or mix/match.  RS(T) and name for the log.  Name is optional.
